March wasn't too eventful.  Sarah continues to eat a lot and grow, grow, grow.  She getting much more active and needy now.  She needs to be constantly walked around, particularly on the edges of her happy times.  This means some tough times in the evenings.

She is also showing more signs of wanting to grab stuff and direct it toward her mouth.  We are going to have to be more vigilent of what things are left nearby.  I expect April will be a month of grabbing.

Still no roll over yet.  Expecting to see it any day.  She shifts a lot when unhappy, but no move to roll over.

This is a new phenomenon for me, but I don't have a lot of pictures from March.  Moon has the bulk.  I'll have to get her to upload some here (or hand them over).  I just learned she's keeping her own stash.  I'm trying to think how I can steal them.

I'm going to move to a month by month format now.  School has started, which means I have less time for pictures and for updating Sarah's website.  I might even think about combining the kids sites before too long, but I'll wait until after her first year or so.  So much interesting stuff happens then.  Maybe I'll combine the sites when she can walk.  That's a good milestone.

Sarah and Moon spent a lot of quality time together this month.  Mom really got down and dirty :-)

Solnal (Lunar New Year) was in February this year.  We went to the Kim's place and had a family get together and ceremony.

Never a lack of good Sarah pictures

I'm getting lots of couch shots of Sammy and Sarah these days.  Too much TV?

Moon with Sarah and Deasik with Hyunsuh.  I'm sure they'll be great friends.  At this point, Sarah is oblivious and Hyunsuh seems to grab for her eyes a lot.

We spend a lot of time these days trying to get Sarah to smile.  It's not too difficult.  She responds very quickly to a happy voice, smile, and close facial contact.  These interactions are fascinating and are most certainly a learned response, but she learned it really quickly.

In general, Sarah continues to be a really good baby.  She's in a schedule, though not one of our making.  She's up early, around 5-6.  This is probably one of her happiest times of day.  Unfortunately (or fortunately), I'm not up to witness this.  Moon is our resident morning person.  She then naps and eats a little throughout the morning.  She really goes down around lunch time.  Then, again, eat and nap until around dinner. Then sleeps a good solid couple hours.  She's amazing in that she sleeps when it's time for us to eat.  I don't think we ever ate together with Sammy, but her schedule is perfect for family meals.

Then she gets cranky around 10-12/1am.  This is probably the worst time of day for her and us.  There's not much that can be done to quite her down besides walking around with her.  That's a tall order at the end of the day.  She usually cries it out and naps a little. Then gets one last feeding before sleeping until around 5-6.

Last week, we took her to the doctor for what looked like baby ache at rash levels.  The doc told Moon to stay away from large amounts of citrus and spicy foods. Not sure if that was it, but it has disappeared since.  I'd never heard that one before.  Moon had been eating a lot of oranges every day at that point, not to mention our regular diet that is high in vitamin red pepper.

Some pictures from this week.

Seollal (Lunar New Year) was this week.  Lots of fun with family.

I thought this was a cute shot of Sammy and Sarah watching TV on the couch (I don't think she was really watching ;-)

Week 6 has Moon feeling pretty good.  She's even back to her normal multitasking.

Sammy does a great job with Sarah.  He sees her as an occassional annoyance, but he is really caring towards her.  He's been a big help.

On week 4 we had a family gathering.  Ostensibly to give people a reason to see Sarah, but the real reason is that Deasik got some crab and wanted to have a family boil.  Good stuff and a good excuse to get together.

Here's a pretty good self portrait from my phone.  Moon loves to point to old photos that I took with Sammy when I was about 60lbs heavier.  She says that Sarah hardly looks like a newborn.  Not too much difference in these two pictures.  Maybe a full body shot would be better ;-)

Sammy and I made a "secret clubhouse" like he saw in one of his books.  I suggested that we put a "No girls allowed" sign on the clubhouse like the one in the book.  He didn't like that, though, so he wrote the one below.  Pretty nice kid, isn't he?  And, yes, he did write that.  I had to add the "wed" at the end when he ran out of space.

We were trying to create some nice shots this week.  Here are a few that I liked.

Sarah has to apply for a bunch of things, including a passport, this month.  We decided to go to the same place that did such a great job with Sammy's passport photos (http://www.samuelcraig.com).  His were probably the best pictures he's ever taken.  Hers turned out pretty good.  We even decided to get her birth announcement pictures done there.  I won't post them here until they've been shipped and received to those getting them (if you don't, sorry. We're only getting 50, going mostly to the non-Facebook crowd).

Nothing much to report in Week 3.  Sarah is still being pretty cooperative, though she's been a little sour the last couple nights.  This going along with some gas that might have something to do with it.  She won't take a bottle from me these days, so Moon has been putting in overtime.

She hasn't had many opportunities to do so, but in the 2 times she gone in the stroller, she loves it.  Goess to sleep every time.  Of course that might be because it's around 15 degrees out and she's packed in blankets.  It gets nice a cozy in there.

That's about it for now.  More later.

I gave a little info on the big delivery day in my last post.  Here are some pictures of the first couple weeks.

The last 2 weeks haven't been too eventful. As I said in my last post, Sarah is pretty good.  Aside from her upside-down sleep schedule, she is quite tame.

We stayed in the hospital for a couple days while Moon's parents stayed at our place with Sammy.  I cruised home once a day for a shower and change of clothes.

On Christmas morning, we were able to videoconference with the Dickinsons (Mom's side of the family) for their Christmas party.  The connection wasn't great at the hospital so we cut it and picked them up again after we went home.

We came home on Christmas afternoon and picked up with the Dickinson Christmas again.  It was good to show off Sarah to the whole family.  I hope to do the same with the Craigs on the 15th.

Poor Sammy had to wait an extra day for Santa's visit.  We told him that we wouldn't be home so he promised that he's swing by after he got to the rest of the world.  Luckily, that meant that we could celebrate fully on the 26th.

(download)
However, we were able to have a good, full Christmas dinner and we were able to celebrate with my family for their Christmas in the evening (our time).  We let Sammy open all the gifts from family, so I wouldn't feel too bad for him.  It was fun to again let family get a peak at Sarah and maintain some normalcy for the rest of us.  It has become our Christmas tradition (videoconferencing, that is).

Yesterday (1/6/11), we went in for Sarah's first checkup.  They didn't let me take too many photos, but I got a couple.  Sarah only gained a little weight, but that's pretty good considering Sammy lost a little from the hospital to the first checkup.  It's not a surprise.  She eats a lot.  She also got a vaccination and, like Sammy, she was a trooper.  No tears. Everything was good.

(download)
After the checkup (at which which they cleaned her umbilical cord), she lost her cord.  I think they loosened it a little.  I think it was a little premature.  Anyway, we have to clean it out and watch it for a while.

I've been at home since the birth.  I'm trying to take care of the house as much as possible, though Moon doesn't really let that happen.  Moon's Mom has been over a few times mostly to help with food.  Moon's recovering very well.  Even though Sarah was bigger than Sammy, things seems to be healing well.  I think we are both going a little stir crazy though.  Given that Moon is recovering and it's too cold to go outside for long (about -12C/20F), we aren't getting out too much.

Otherwise, nothing much to report.
